This is one of four recent releases of out of print works by Ms. Balogh. It is not as good as her present day releases, but I wouldn't expect it to be. She has been writing for 30 years after all.

I see no need to rehash the plot. Others have already done a fine job of that. I found it to be a light enjoyable read. Not quite as long as todays novels, but that was fine with me.

If you are new to Ms. Balogh, I would suggest choosing one of her more current releases, but if you are a unapo...

A delightful, well written, period accurate book. And how magical to encounter a non-heroic Hero, who is gentle, witty and honourable. The heroine is a self-contained, restrained lady of deep feelings, and possibly a little too independent. this book is so different yet absolutely lovely.
